What I like about this type of iPad cover is that like the one sold by Dodocase, it makes you look as if you are carrying a book and therefore, your iPad is a less obvious target for thieves. All they see is a person carrying a book! Moreover, there’s more protection for your iPad if you drop it.

I love my DODOcase for the iPad. And now as I contemplate replacing my old iPad with an iPad2, I must necessarily consider the purchase of a new iPad2 case. I love this iPad2 leather case from Killspencer, which is really a small bag, that can also carry your iPhone, a notebook, and business cards. The exterior is black leather with a matte finish and a black leather bullhide handle. Inside the lining is neoprene and the zippers are water resistant. Dimensions: case size 8.25″ X 10.5″; large exterior pocket size 8.25″ X 8.75″; two smaller exterior pockets 4.25″ X 3.5″. The price is $189.

If leather isn’t your think, Killspencer has an iPad2 case in wax black filter twill for $150. According to the company, “original wax” black filter twill is a new utilitarian fabric originally designed and manufactured in 1837 as a military spec. It is water repellent and has been designed for use in hunting, fishing and sailing.

Shuky is a design firm based in Melbourne, Australia. Their MacBook Air sleeve looks like a manila envelope, except it is made out of leather. The interior is a soft, plush fabric that will not scratch your laptop. Price: AU$140.

(1) DodoCase: I reviewed Dodocase previously on Shopplr and I find it to be an outstanding iPad case. I have taken my iPad on numerous trans-Atlantic trips inside the Dodocase. It is sturdy and attractive, and it does protect the iPad very well. Added security bonus: when it is lying on a table or when I’m carrying it in my arms, it looks like a large Moleskin notebook, meaning, it does not attract the attention of thieves. Price: $59.95. (2) Boa Push iPad case from Booq Bags: Unlike the Dodocase, the Boa push iPad messenger is actually a bag where you can put in a lot of other stuff such as an iPhone, credit cards, a notepad and pens. It is made out of durable Twylon and Nappa leather. Price: $89.95.

(3) Cote et Ciel Pillow Stand iPad Grey Melange: I reviewed this iPad stand/case on Shopplr sometime ago. Unlike the other two iPad cases above, it allows you to place your iPad standing up on table so you can read it (very handy for those looking at recipes on their iPad while they are cooking). Price: 50 EUR.

(4) Hardgraft Tilt iPad Case: This elegant iPad stand and case is out of thick wool and vegetable tanned leather. It rolls into an adjustable position for typing and web browsing. The leather cover protects the screen and metal snaps keep the case closed. Price: 85 EUR.

(5) Book for iPad: similar to the Dodocase, the Book for iPad from Nedrelow is perfect for the iPad owner who worships at the altar of minimalist chic. On the inside, a 100% wool felt sleeve provides a snug fit for the iPad and the natural German felt is a sustainable and renewable material. I am ever on the lookout for unusual and well-designed iPad cases. I recently bought the Dodocase which I love, but this one called the Pillow Stand iPad case from Côte et Ciel would fulfill another function which is to get the iPad to stand on my lap or bed when I am watching a video or flipping through photos. When it is closed, it can be carried around like a clutch bag or tucked away in a backpack, briefcase or tote. It costs 50 EUR and will be available starting end of August 2010.
